“Revery” refers to the experience of painting as allowing one to “be lost in one’s thoughts, meditate, fancifully musing”. The title reflects Savre’s dependence on poetry and music, language, and landscape for inspiration.
Raised in northern Minnesota, Savre draws upon the region’s expansive prairies, sunflower fields, and serene lake country, where she still spends her summers. These landscapes are echoed throughout her work, both in palette and mood.
Music scores and handwriting (symbolizing love of language) are incorporated in her mixed media works, as well as unusual use of used palettes and mesh burlap which provides textures and transparency.
“I work in the moment and draw from what is at hand, that which has meaning and is attractive to me though may be seen as useless to others,” says Savre.
