Gallery 9 featured Exhibition for June is Jan Meyer's "Symphony of Color & Joy"

Gallery 9 presents “Symphony of Color & Joy”, a patterned approach to painting lively interiors by Jan Meyer. “I imagine most artists want to form a connection with their audience. I truly believe my paintings, with their vivid color and subject matter, form a bond of warmth and playfulness with the observer”, says Jan Meyer. Influenced by the Fauve artists, Matisse, Derain, Bonnard and Hockney, Jan delights in working with color, shapes and pattern. Geometrics, florals, stripes and polka dots are combined with intense color, creating ROOMS and BLOOMS, the subject of Jan’s paintings. Jan’s aim is to convey an atmosphere of fun, playfulness and JOY. The work is done on canvas, in acrylics, that dries quickly and let the artist move easily from one pattern of color to another. These rooms form impressions of a SYMPHONY OF COLOR AND JOY, and mirror the spirit Jan hopes to convey, especially during these turbulent times. Jan first exhibited in Galley 9 in 1979 and has had many solo exhibitions at Gallery 9 over the last 46 years. Jan is also well known for painting murals throughout Silicon Valley. Samples of her murals adorn many exterior walls throughout Los Altos. Opening Reception: First Friday, June 6th, 5-8 pm More about the artist: www.janmeyerartist.com Instagram: @ jan_meyer_artist
