Spirit/Play Symposium—Reclaiming & Embodying Emancipatory Play
SPIRIT/PLAY Symposium is an experimental arts event that seeks to answer the question: “What is emancipatory play?” Through workshops and talks by artist-scholars, themes of embodiment, spirituality, ritual, play, community-rooted practice, and restorative justice will be explored.
UC Santa Cruz Assistant Professors mattie brice, Marina Magalhães, and Lisa Marie Rollins are joined by: Jonaya Kemper (Emancipatory Bleed), Alison C. Rollins (University of Wisconsin Madison), Dr. Irvin Gonzalez (Ohio State University), and Patricia “Patty” Huerta (UC Riverside) from Primera Generación Dance Collective.
