Celebrate Women of Early California at the Castro Adobe Open House
WATSONVILLE — Join us Saturday, May 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a special Open House at the historic Castro Adobe, celebrating the vital roles women played on early California ranchos.
Learn about Martina Castro, owner of Rancho Soquel, and view her side saddle, on loan from the Aptos History Museum. Tour the beautifully restored 175-year-old Castro Adobe hacienda, while enjoying interpretive exhibits and local history brought to life by knowledgeable docents.
Bring a picnic and relax in the garden while enjoying live music by Bob Gomez, Watsonville’s former poet laureate, and his wife Denise. Listen to Cisco Jim serenade visitors in the vaquero-style, and Chris Vinson performing on his guitar in the Fandango Room.
The Castro Adobe is located at 184 Old Adobe Road in Watsonville. No registration required.
Presented by Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and California State Parks. For more information, call (831) 226-9669.
