Italian Film: Trifole

Dante Winter 2026 Film Series: Buried Treasures/Tesori sepolti This season’s films involve digging for buried treasures, both literal and metaphorical. From tomb raiders searching for Etruscan artifacts in Tuscany, to truffle hunters in the forests of Piedmont, to a documentary bringing the overlooked legacy of A.P. Giannini to light, these films celebrate the thrill of the hunt and the joy of discovery. The second film in the series is: Trifole. Directed by Gabriele Fabbro. 2025. 100 min Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r9zPoCuPsA The hunt begins! Set against the beauty of the Piedmont region’s autumn woods, Trifole is a moving adventure about family, tradition, and finding one’s place in the world. When 28-year-old Dalia is sent by her mother (played by seven-time David di Donatello Award winner Margherita Buy) to care for her aging, truffle-hunting grandfather, Igor, from whom she has become disconnected, she finds herself thrust into a world of rival truffle hunters and elite truffle markets. Her unlikely bond with her grandfather leads her on a hunt for a legendary truffle that could change their lives. The filmmakers spent years researching this story by speaking with farmers and foragers and in many ways Trifole serves as a document of the ancient and endangered world of truffle hunters and the truffle industry. ________________________________________________________________________________________ All films in Italian with English subtitles.
