Poet Laureate Celebration with Farnaz Fatemi & Nancy Miller Gomez
Farnaz Fatemi is the former Santa Cruz County Poet Laureate, an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow, California Individual Artist Fellow, and author of the poetry collection, Sister Tongue زبان خواهر. While she was Poet Laureate, she founded and continues to run the Santa Cruz County Youth Poet Laureate Program and the county-focused digital space, Mapping My Place. Her poems and essays appear in Alaska Quarterly, Catamaran Literary Reader, Kenyon Review, No Tokens Journal, RHINO Poetry Journal, Tahoma Literary Review, Terrain.org, and elsewhere. Nancy Miller Gomez, the current Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz, County is the author of Inconsolable Objects (YesYes Books) and Punishment (Rattle chapbook series). Her work has appeared in Best American Poetry, Best New Poets, Prairie Schooner, Lit Hub, The Adroit Journal, New Ohio Review, The Rumpus, Rattle, Verse Daily, and elsewhere. She received a special mention in the Pushcart Prize Anthology. She co-founded with Ellen Bass the Poetry in the Jails program that provides writing workshops to incarcerated women and men in Santa Cruz County. More at: nancymillergomez.com.
