Our Theme for April is "Schooled." Whether you were home-schooled, private-schooled or public- schooled, you probably have more than a few indelible images of your fellow students, teachers and the principal. But for many of us, our real education takes place outside of the formal classroom, and the experiences of being "schooled" can be life changing. Put your name in the hat if you would like to share one of your stories.
Jabari "Bari" Sellars, our featured storyteller is an educator, and unabashed nerd. Originally from Durham, North Carolina, their love of yarn-spinning was born out of eavesdropping on captivating conversations between their mother and godmother. Bari took that love of storytelling with them to school when they began their decade-long teaching career. Since leaving the classroom, Bari has focused on developing curricula that celebrates and incorporates the identities, interests, and expertise of middle school and high school students. Bari believes that we all have a story to tell, and that each of us deserves to have our story heard.
