Presentation on the Restoration of the Amelia Vollers House of San Mateo


The San Mateo County History Museum will present Patricia McDaniel, who will discuss the preservation of San Mateo’s historic Vollers House at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. The Amelia Vollers House is a historic Queen Anne Victorian cottage near downtown San Mateo, California. Amelia Vollers, a Russian immigrant, purchased a lot in 1889 and had the Queen Anne Victorian built in 1891 by James Sharpe Tannahill. Tannhill also built homes in Redwood City and Menlo Park, and who went on to build the Kearney mansion in Fresno. McDaniel restored the house while she and her husband owned it. She will will share her first-hand experience of preserving San Mateo’s historic Vollers House. This special presentation is free to Museum members, and is included with admission to the Museum.
