Planning to spend Independence Day in San Francisco? The city offers fireworks, waterfront views, cool summer weather & plenty of places to celebrate. One of the easiest ways to turn the holiday into a full day out is the annual Fourth of July Pub Crawl in the Marina.
The event takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 2PM to 10PM. More than 10 bars will take part, giving guests a chance to explore the neighborhood while enjoying drink specials, DJs, party favors, food contests and games.
The 2026 event also lands on an important anniversary. This July 4 marks 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The America 250 celebration is expected to make Independence Day feel especially important across the country and San Francisco will have plenty happening throughout the holiday weekend.
Your First Stop: Rick & Roxy’s
Before visiting any of the participating bars, go to the official check-in location:
Rick & Roxy’s
2131 Lombard Street
San Francisco, CA 94123
Check-in is open from 2PM until 8PM.
Participants will receive their event wristband and pub crawl map here. The map will help you find participating locations and may include details about activities taking place during the event.
It is a good idea to check in near the start of the event, but you can check in any time up until 8PM. You will have more time to look over the map, plan a loose route, meet your group and enjoy the afternoon before larger crowds arrive.
How the Pub Crawl Works
Unlike a guided tour, the Fourth of July Pub Crawl does not require everyone to move together. Once you have your wristband and map, you can visit the participating bars in the order that works best for you. Stay longer at a place you like, skip a stop that is too crowded or meet friends at a bar farther along the route.
Participating venues include Union Street Ale House, Jaxson, Palm House, The Brixton, Westwood, Comet Club, Wizards & Wands, Rick & Roxy’s, White Rabbit, The Blue Light & more.
Three fun contests
Eating contests have long been tied to Fourth of July celebrations, and this pub crawl gives San Francisco its own version of the tradition.
The Hot Dog Eating Contest puts competitors in a race against the clock. The Pie Eating Contest offers an equally funny challenge, with contestants trying to finish before the others. Both of these contests are fun for the crowd as well as the people taking part. They also give everyone a central place to gather during a pub crawl that otherwise lets guests set their own schedule.
Find the Gnome Contest
Some Fourth of July themed gnomes will be hidden in some of the participating bars. Find one and win some sweet prizes.
Games, Music, and Holiday Extras
The event ticket includes more than bar access.
Participating venues will offer Fourth of July drink specials. Guests can also enjoy party favors, DJs, event activities and the Find the Gnome Contest.
What to Wear and Bring
Fourth of July clothing is welcome, so red, white, and blue outfits are an easy choice. Some people keep it simple with a holiday shirt, while others show up in full costumes.
San Francisco weather can change quickly. A sunny afternoon can turn into a chilly evening, especially close to the water. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket that you will not mind carrying.
Getting to the Marina
Rideshare services, taxis, and public transportation are often better choices than driving during major San Francisco events. Parking can be limited in the Marina, especially on a holiday. Street closures, fireworks crowds and event traffic may also make driving more difficult later in the day. Plan both your arrival and your trip home before the event. Never drink and drive.
A Full San Francisco Fourth of July Experience
The Fourth of July Pub Crawl brings several holiday traditions together in one event. There are hot dogs, pies, music, games, neighborhood bars and easy access to waterfront areas for the fireworks.
For America’s 250th anniversary, the Marina will be a fun place to start your July 4 celebration.
