Jeff Mills (live scoring of Metropolis Metropolis)
San Francisco hosts a rare cultural event as Jeff Mills performs Cinemix: Metropolis Metropolis (2023) live at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre. This marks only the second time Mills has presented this live score in the city, underscoring its rarity. His original electronic reimagining of Fritz Lang and Thea von Harbou’s 1927 silent science-fiction landmark Metropolis continues a body of work he first began with his 2001 release on Tresor.
The evening begins with a conversation led by Sharlese Metcalf of KEXP, who will join Mills to discuss the vision behind Metropolis Metropolis and its fusion of film, electronic composition, and live performance.
