SFWA Gallery Opening Reception

The San Francisco Women Artists Gallery welcomes all visitors to their FREE Opening Reception of Hope Lives: Art for ALS - Research Renderings. Discover the beautiful artwork that includes a large curated collection of artwork inspired by molecular ALS research photographs. There will be live music, a festive atmosphere and light refreshments. ALS is an acronym for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a disease that atrophies a person's muscles, while their brain function remains untouched. ALS steals a person's ability to walk, talk, eat and breathe. There is no cure for ALS. Hope Lives: Art for ALS was launched by Melissa Stephens in 2021 Hope Lives: Art for ALS is an annual art exhibition, fundraiser and ALS awareness event that takes place each May during ALS Awareness Month in San Francisco, CA. It merges Melissa Stephens' artistic vocation with her desire to honor her sister's ALS journey. Lynn Giovannelli was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in July 2020. This year's theme: Research Renderings includes artwork inspired by three ALS research photographs. A percentage of all sold artwork from Research Renderings will be donated to the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) for research. When you visit be sure to catch "Petals and Wings" in the main gallery, an exhibition that explores the resilience and beauty of the natural world and comments on our relationship with nature.
