Happy Hour Caregiver Support Group

Coastside Adult Day Health Center Announces Re-Launching of Caregiver Support Group: "Happy Hour" [Half Moon Bay, CA-January 3, 2025] - Coastside Adult Day Health Center (CADHC) is thrilled to announce the re-launch of its beloved Caregiver Support Group under the name "Happy Hour". This revamped program is designed to provide caregivers with a much-needed opportunity to connect, share experiences, and access vital resources in a warm, supportive environment. "Happy Hour" will meet on the first Friday of every month from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, starting January 3, 2025. Sessions will be held at CADHC, located at 925 Main Street, Suite A, Half Moon Bay, CA. "Pre-Covid, this group-created in 1987 - was more than just a meeting; it was a lifeline for caregivers who often felt isolated in their roles," said Dawn Fitzpatrick, CADHC Clinical Social Work Consultant and group cofacilitator. "We felt it was time to restart this group and provide a space where caregivers can recharge, share their challenges, and leave with a sense of hope and practical tools to navigate their journey. "We selected the theme 'Happy Hour' to express a sense of lighthearted gratitude for caregivers who often feel unseen and isolated. These individuals serve as the 'load-bearing walls' of their households, providing the essential support that holds everything together. Our Friday meeting time aligns with the traditional end-ofweek gathering-a chance to unwind, connect, and celebrate resilience. However, caregiving is a demanding, round-the-clock role, leaving little opportunity for such breaks. Through this theme, we aim to honor their dedication while creating a space for camaraderie and acknowledgment." What "Happy Hour" Offers: • • • • • • Refreshments, Snacks & "Mocktails": Because everyone deserves a break. Education & Coping Strategies: Practical tips for survival and success. Respite Care Available: Let us support you while you focus on yourself. Benefits Counseling: Guidance on accessing the resources you need. Referrals: If we can't fix it, we'll connect you with someone who can. Guest Speakers: Learn from experts who truly understand caregiving. The program is open to everyone, and pre-registration is not required. Whether you're caring for a loved one with dementia, a chronic illness, or another condition, "Happy Hour" offers support, guidance, and a chance to meet others who share your experiences.
