At Book Society, we believe writing—like reading and wine—should be both meaningful and enjoyable. Whether you’re polishing a manuscript, just getting started, or simply yearning to reconnect with your creative voice, our new Write On! workshop series is designed to help you build a writing practice that feels both purposeful and sustainable. Led by three acclaimed authors and teachers, this three-part series explores the craft and confidence behind great writing—from defining your goals to refining your voice to crafting sentences that sing. You’ll leave each session inspired, grounded, and equipped with tools to take your writing to the next level. February 18 – The Sound of Story: Developing Voice and Tone in Writing with Jordan Rosenfeld Agents and editors always say it—the one thing they’re looking for is a distinctive author voice. In this session, Jordan demystifies voice and tone and shows you how to express yours with confidence and clarity. Leave with renewed focus, practical tools, and a community of fellow writers cheering you on. ___________________________ About the Instructors Christine Walker, MFA, MA, is a visual artist, strategic visioning facilitator, and author of the novel Tap Dancing at the Bluebird and the memoir A Painter’s Garden: Cultivating the Creative Life. She has an MFA in Writing and Literature and an MA in Creative Arts Interdisciplinary. Another book on writing craft will be published in 2027 by Sibyl Writing Craft. She teaches at Sibyl Writing Craft. Jordan Rosenfeld is author of seven books on the craft of writing including How to Write a Page-Turner, the bestselling Make a Scene, Writing the Intimate Character, A Writer’s Guide to Persistence, Writing Deep Scenes and Write Free. She is also the author of three novels. Jordan’s articles and essays have been widely published. She teaches online writing classes and at numerous writing conferences, including at Sibyl Writing Craft. Jordan is also the author of the popular Substack, Writing in the Pause. Nina Schuyler is a former professor at University of San Francisco, and currently teaches creative writing for Stanford Continuing Studies, Book Passage, and Sibyl Writing Craft. She also facilitates the popular Stunning Sentences Substack. Her fiction has received accolades as well and includes, In This Ravishing World, and the novels, Afterword, The Translator, and The Painting.
