Local Artist Kimmi Risk Brings Bold, Joyful Work to Rockaway Beach
Pacifica artist Kimmi Risk opens a new show of her signature mixed-media work on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026 at A Grape in the Fog (400 Old County Rd, Rockaway Beach). The opening reception runs from 6–8pm and is free to attend.
Risk's work is impossible to miss — swirling resin paintings in candy-bright colors, sculptural popsicle pieces dripping with rhinestones and sprinkles, and compositions that feel equal parts fine art and pure delight. Think Willy Wonka meets a pop art gallery.
But the work has deeper roots. Risk turned to painting during one of the hardest periods of her life, when her son was fighting cancer. Art became her escape and her solace. Her son beat cancer. The joy in her pieces is hard-won and it shows.
A Grape in the Fog is a natural fit — a beloved local wine shop and gathering spot steps from the beach. The combination of great wine and genuinely fun art makes this an easy Tuesday night out for anyone on the Coastside.
