Magic Theatre Oscars Watch Party
Bay Area theater and cinema fans will get closer to the Oscars at The Magic Theatre’s live Oscars watch party for the 97th Academy Awards ceremony in person Sunday, March 2, at 111 Minna Street Gallery. The celebratory evening will bring community together for multiple large-scale screens and viewing areas—including a quiet room for those who want an undivided focus on the Oscar ceremony-- finger food, cash bar, Oscars trivia with prizes and even a red carpet walk with photographer. Stephanie Holmes and Liam Vincent from The Magic Theatre will host the evening and there will be special live check-in and commentary from Magic Theatre Artistic Director Sean San José who will be live from the Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Proceeds benefit The Magic Theatre and the event is a collaboration between the Magic, 111 Minna Street Gallery and Theater 33.
The event will hold special excitement and pride for the Bay Area theater community and particularly The Magic Theatre because The Magic’s own Colman Domingo is nominated for Best Actor for his role in Sing Sing which co-stars Sean San José. Sing Sing is nominated for three Academy Awards: Colman Domingo for Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Song.
