Back by popular demand, the San Antonio Chamber Music Society will present for its final concert of the season the award-winning Isidore String Quartet, featuring music of Mozart, Beethoven and Billy Childs. Formed in 2019 as an ensemble at The Juilliard School, the quartet was awarded the 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant after winning the 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022. The Isidore String Quartet is heavily influence by the Juilliard String Quartet concept of ‘approaching the established as if it were brand new, and the new as if it were firmly established.’ Currently the Ensemble-in-Residence at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the quartet also tours extensively in the United States and Europe. Outside the concert hall, the quartet’s work with PROJECT: MUSIC HEALS US provides encouragement, education and healing to marginalized communities. Members of the quartet are violinists Adrian Steele and Phoenix Avalon, violist Devin Moore, and cellist Joshua McClendon.
