Hotel Contessa Hosting Flourish & Femme Art Fair on March 30
Hotel Contessa is hosting Flourish and Femme, a community art fair and immersive installation that celebrates the talent of local female artists of all generations. On Sunday, March 30, the public is invited to experience an art-filled event along the Riverwalk, featuring art, flowers, and femme energy. The event will serve as a platform for established artists to mentor emerging talent, creating an intergenerational showcase of creativity. The fair will benefit the local nonprofit, Magdalena House, which empowers families to break the cycle of abuse and neglect. This free event highlights female artistry, craftsmanship, and community spirit.
The art fair will feature a collective of female artists, including Kathy Sosa, Stephanie Pena Frost, Mary Carmen Sessions, Geri Garcia, and Ludi Smith, who will create an immersive flower-themed installation across the hotel's spaces. Their works will be on display through June 2025, with select guest rooms transformed into intimate galleries. The event also includes culinary experiences with a special focus on female artisans, such as tastings from Mijenta, a female-owned tequila distillery, and chocolate by local chocolatier Chef Alessia Benavides of CHOCOLATL. Ambler restaurant will also serve creative dishes and craft cocktails throughout the event.
The immersive experience showcases the work of over a dozen artists, including Kathy Sosa, whose famous painting at Hotel Contessa will inspire the event. Eight student artists from CAST School will be mentored by these established artists, with a mini-exhibition of their works scheduled for April 27. Proceeds from the event will support Magdalena House, which provides shelter and services to mothers and children escaping abuse. Hotel Contessa’s Flourish and Femme initiative fosters mentorship and community engagement, contributing to the vibrant cultural landscape of San Antonio.
