Darryl Maximilian Robinson Remembers 2011 'The Wolfman: The Curse of Talbot Hall'

A 2011 FLASHBACK TO BEING A "SCAREACTOR" UNDER A FULL MOON!

Your Humble Servant In The Theatre, Darryl Maximilian Robinson, Takes You Back 13 Years To Behind-The-Scenes At The Universal Studios Hollywood Historic House of Horrors!

Though the acting gig required no memorization of dialogue, though his performance would be truly audience-interactive and hugely improvisational, though several props and costume pieces would be cumbersome and heavy ( and quite slippery once the sweating started! ), for Halloween Horror Nights 2011 at The Historic House of Horrors at Universal Studios Hollywood, Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project Founder and lifelong Theatre Artist Darryl Maximilian Robinson was one of several actors given the opportunity to play the title role of Lawrence Talbot / The Wolfman in "The Wolfman: The Curse of Talbot Hall" which was a Featured Maze Event. Working as a "Scareactor" was never so much fun as it was that fall!

For the location of this event was the very place where the original "Dracula," "Frankenstein," and "The Wolfman" classic horror films were shot!

A Chicago-born and stage-trained veteran actor and play director, your humble servant, Darryl Maximilian Robinson, had won awards for his critically-praised stage roles including: The 1981 Fort-Wayne News-Sentinel Reviewer's Recognition Award as Outstanding Thespian of the Season for his performances in professional summer stock ( particularly as Fagin in Lionel Bart's classic musical "Oliver! ) at northern Indiana's Enchanted Hills Playhouse of Syracuse; a 1992 St. Louis / St. Charles, Missouri Area Harpooners of the Sea Unicorn Certificate of Honourary Membership Award for his staging and performance in the the title role of Excaliber Productions Ltd. in St. Louis mounting of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes: The Final Problem!" at The Gateway City's Midtown Arts Center; and both a 1997 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Citation Award for Outstanding Actor In A Principal Role In A Play and a 1997 Chicago Black Theatre Alliance / Ira Aldridge Award nomination for Best Leading Actor In A Play for his performance as Sam Semela in The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago revival staging of Athol Fugard's powerful anti-apartheid drama "Master Harold And The Boys" presented at the much-missed Heartland Cafe Studio Theatre in The Rogers Park neighborhood of The Windy City.

To be paid AGVA ( American Guild of Variety Artists ) union scale at Universal Studios Hollywood for an acting gig where he never had to speak or, technically, never even had to make a sound was very new, and ultimately refreshing, for your humble servant in The Theatre.

For the 2011 Featured Maze Event The Wolfman: The Curse of Talbot Hall at Universal Studios Hollywood's Historic House of Horrors, USH Halloween Horror Nights' highly-talented and experienced Creative Director John Murdy utilized several talented "Scareactors" to create the world of the doomed House of Talbot.

A variety of actors also alternated throughout the venue playing the roles of Lawrence Talbot / The Wolfman and The Wolfen Boy.

Of these energetic and skilled performers, veteran and award-winning stage actor Darryl Maximilian Robinson as Lawrence Talbot / The Wolfman and Alexander Peralta (aka "B-Boy Alex") as The Wolfen Boy, made memorable impressions in these character parts.

Photos of these talented "Scareactors" "Behind-The-Scenes" preparing to play their roles have become popular on the web!

Sadly, now that the Historic USH House of Horrors was torn down ( in 2014 ) to expand for a Universal Studios Store and make way for such popular attractions as The Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle, these photos provide more precious memories than ever.
