Join us for the launch of a new anthology that invites readers to reconsider what it means to wait. Featuring contributor Jess Pavia and editor Kathy Curto, this event will include brief readings, a conversation between our guests, a Q&A with the audience, and a book signing.

This poignant collection of essays, poetry, and artwork invites readers to reconsider what it means to wait. We all know the small, everyday waits—waiting for a plane to arrive, the workday to end, or a doctor to open the exam room door. But the writers in this collection take waiting much deeper.
They write about waiting for a loved one to succumb to a terminal illness; waiting for heartbreak to soften; waiting for a child to grow up—and then wishing they were small again.
Throughout the book, the theme of gardening emerges as a quiet metaphor for hope and patience. Should I plant now, or should I wait? I’ve been waiting so long for these flowers to bloom—maybe they never will.
The contributors include award-winning writers and artists, New York Times bestselling authors, and voices whose work has appeared in a variety of publications, exhibits and collections.
Kathy Curto is a writing professor and the author of Not for Nothing-Glimpses into a Jersey Girlhood (Bordighera Press, 2018) and the editor of editor of the multi-genre collection, What Are You Waiting For? An Anthology (Motina Books, forthcoming, July 2026.) She lives in the Hudson Valley with her family and can be found in her front yard, on most mornings, replenishing her Little Free Library with donated books. Jessica L Pavia is a high school English teacher and creative nonfiction writer. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and can be found in Electric Literature, Longreads, Catapult, The Sun, and is featured in the forthcoming anthology edited by Kathy Curto, What Are You Waiting For?. Jessica has an MFA in writing from Sarah Lawrence College and an MS in Education from the University of Rochester.
