NB: this is an off-site tour that does not start at the Central Library.
Rochester’s historic 6th Ward was both a center of education and industry. Home to the University of Rochester’s onetime campus and a former factory complex now known as Village Gate Square, the neighborhood served as both an intellectual and industrial incubator from the 1870s to the 1970s. Today, with both the University and the manufacturing base long gone, it has become a center for adaptive reuse at the core of the thriving residential and commercial area now known as the Neighborhood of the Arts. Meet in the courtyard of Village Gate Square for this 1.1-mile tour.
In case of inclement weather, tour may be canceled.
Registration is recommended, but not required.
