The Story of "The Christ of West Lake Road"

An early 20th century chapel that served worshipers at the far end of Canandaigua Lake who couldn’t make the arduous drive to St. Mary’s in Canandaigua was marked by a statue of Christ the Redeemer, visible by boaters looking for a place to come ashore. A descendant of the family that owned the land tells how the statue’s move uphill 90 years ago preserved its place in the history of life on the lake.
