Free Diabetic Eye Screenings
Retina Associates of Western NY is holding our first annual "Diabetes Day" event on April 25th, 2026 at our Sawgrass Drive office location, offering FREE diabetic eye screenings for anyone in our community. Physicians, staff, and other community volunteers will be donating their time on this day to perform diabetic eye screenings for anyone in our community (18+).
Diabetic eye disease is the #1 cause of blindness in working age Americans, and vision loss is preventable with EARLY detection and treatment. We hope with providing free screenings to community members and those in need, we can help shorten the disparity of healthcare within our community.
This free diabetic eye screening will include a brief health history, a visual acuity assessment, 2 forms of diagnostic retinal imaging, and follow-up recommendations with a retina specialist. We will also have resources on site including the Rochester Area Diabetes Educators (RADE), CCSI Health Coverage Navigators and free blood sugar checks. Healthy snacks and swag bags will be available for all attendees. Appointments are encouraged but walk-in's will be welcome!
