DUPC Sunday Forum: Trying to make sense of Christian Nationalism
On Sunday, November 24th 9:45am-10:45am, DUPC will host it's Sunday Forum. Please join us for this important topic. The environment and beliefs of Christian Nationalism and its followers will not disappear soon, nor can reasoned debate or shaming change “them.” Any efforts to change hearts and minds (“theirs” and “ours”) must begin again: away from competition and domination, towards understanding, compassion, and justice.
Speaker Biography: David Lee is a retired physician who is not a theologian or a political scientist. He worked at Rochester General Hospital in pulmonary and critical care medicine and at one time chaired its ethics committee. He took courses at Union Theological Seminary and Yale Divinity School to acquaint himself also with “spiritual issues” such as the nature of suffering and how to define purpose and meaning, how to encourage compassion and connection in the lives we have together. He has been a member of Session at Downtown United Presbyterian Church since 2021.
