The Genesee Valley Plein Air Painters will open its 2026 Art Show beginning January 1 at Pittsford Barnes & Noble’s Community Room, 3349 Monroe Ave. This competitive, judged and juried show, the 21st annual, includes 99 original paintings created throughout the Northeast. The show is free and open to the public through January 31. An artists’ reception and award ceremony will be Saturday, January 3, from 2–4 p.m. Gallery hours are B&N store hours. The show features the latest work of many of the region’s top plein air painters, featuring landscape vistas, cityscapes, waterscapes, and other scenes from around the region. More than 85% of each painting in the show must have been painted on site plein air (“in the open air”). Painting media include oil, watercolor, soft pastel, acrylics, cold wax and gouache.
