Rhythms of Life features exhilarating works, including original compositions, for solo and duo marimbas performed by the Harnsberger/Jones Duo! Listen and watch some of their exciting past performances here.
The Harnsberger/Jones Duo is thrilled to be opening 2025 with a concert of new works for marimba duo at Grace Baptist Church. The performance will open with “In the Midst of Darkness,” an original piece by Andy Harnsberger that led to the formation of the duo. The concert will also feature a world premiere written specifically for the duo by Adam Silverman that features extended techniques on the marimba. In the middle of the program, Caitlin Jones and Andy Harnsberger will perform a three movement suite by Gordon Stout that features minimalism, contrasting rhythmic motives, and showcases the expanse of the entire marimba. The duo will then each play a solo written by Andy that both carry heavy meaning behind the works. Finally, the performers will close with the beautifully tonal “Sequoia” by Alex Stopa. This concert promises to bring a fresh perspective to the chamber music listener.
Admission is free and all are welcome. Donations will be accepted and all offerings will support Feed More in their efforts to collect, prepare, and distribute food to neighbors across Central Virginia experiencing food insecurity.
