4th Friday Art Shows and Opening Reception @ Art Works!
Join in a variety of experiences in Manchester this January. We'll be hosting our popular 4th Friday reception and two figure drawing sessions. And if you can't make it to one of these events, don't worry - we're open every day except Mondays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to come see the new art on display. Plus, parking is easy at the public garage on East 5th Street. And we’ll validate your ticket, just ask in the office.
But that's not all - make a day of it by exploring the restaurants in the area. Choose from Basic City Beer, Continental, Pig and Brew, Stock, Iron Clad Pizza, and The Gold Lion for a delicious meal. Start off the new year right by visiting Art Works and Manchester and experiencing all that we have to offer.
4th Friday January 24th at Art Works
This month, we are proud to showcase the Simply Photography exhibit featuring talented artists from all over Virginia. From stunning landscapes to captivating portraits, these artists showcase a variety of subjects and photographic methods that are sure to leave you impressed.
In addition to the Simply Photography exhibit, we are excited to feature solo shows by Justin Sellers and Mandy Powell. And what’s a 4th Friday without our monthly All Media Show? This curated exhibit features all mediums and many topics by Virginia artists.
Please join us for the opening reception on January 24th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Meet the artists and enjoy live music. The exhibits continue February 21, 2024 and the solo shows continue through February 22, 2024. The event is free and open to the public. Plus, parking is free too! Come and be a part of Richmond’s vibrant artistic community.

Simply Photography 2025
Photographers get an opportunity to showcase their signature photographs in this juried show. You will see photography of all types including traditional, digital, manipulated, and photographic mixed media. This is a juried exhibit with cash prizes. The exhibition will be in the main gallery.

Relinquished Justin Sellers
Relinquished is a hauntingly beautiful series that captures the raw vulnerability of the human form against the backdrop of desolate, forgotten spaces. Abandoned buildings, once bustling with activity, now serve as silent monuments to the inexorable march of time. The photographs in this series are a poignant exploration of loneliness, with each image depicting an individual in stark isolation, their presence magnified by the empty spaces that surround them.
The exhibit will be Centre Gallery at Art Works from January 24, 2025 – February 22, 2025.

Golden Alchemy by Mandy Powell
Mandy Powell delves into the magic of abstraction, blending color, texture, and form to craft something greater than the sum of its parts. Inspired by their mother’s advice to paint what she sees and feels, this series embodies this journey. Gold isn’t just a color in the artwork, it’s a symbol of transformation and beauty. By weaving gold into every piece, Mandy brings depth, warmth, and a luminous glow to their creations
This exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery at Art Works from January 25, 2025 – February 22, 2025.

January 2025 All Media Show
Each month Art Works invites artists to submit their work in an open call-for-entries. These exhibits are a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. There is no theme for this exhibit—so anything goes, any topic and any medium. This is a juried show with cash prizes. The exhibit will be in the Skylight Gallery at Art Works from January 24, 2025 – February 21, 2025.
