The Reno Jazz Orchestra will present “A Jazz/Rock Odyssey’ in Lake Tahoe and Reno this summer, July 28 and 29, 2026. Sinatra crooner, rock vocalist and America’s Got Talent finalist, Matt Mauser, will join the 17-piece Orchestra for a trek through time from brassy swing and swagger to retro horn-driven grooves and a powerful tribute to classic rock

The first performance is on July 28, 2026 at the Robert Z. Hawkins Sand Harbor State Park in Incline Village, NV and starts at 7:30 pm. The second performance is July 29, 2026 at the Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno, NV.

“From Frank Sinatra’s smooth swagger to Elvis’s rock ’n’ roll grooves, and Tom Jones’s powerhouse hits, Matt Mauser brings the music of these unforgettable artists to life through dynamic performances that entertain audiences across every generation,” said Greg Johnson, Music Director for the Reno Jazz Orchestra.

Praised by members of Sinatra’s family for his aptitude in capturing the essence of Frank’s music and charisma, Mauser also brings his own signature style to the stage. He infuses some of the most beloved songs from an iconic era with modern flair, while offering insight into the rich musical history behind each timeless tune.

“There are very few entertainers who can traverse the vocal versatility terrain in the manner Matt can,” said Johnson. “Without missing a beat, he can casually croon Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” then roll into a toe-tapping rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues. For this particular performance with the Reno Jazz Orchestra, Matt will be tapping into his crooner and rock sensibility sides to deliver a show that will have the audience wanting more.

Since 1997, the Reno Jazz Orchestra has carried forward a legacy established by world-class musicians who performed with legends like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Luciano Pavarotti. Today, that tradition continues through top educators and performers connected to the University of Nevada, Reno, and throughout the West.  Its mission is to create unforgettable big band experiences, from jazz classics to contemporary compositions and the Great American Songbook. Each season, outstanding guest artists join the Orchestra for performances that thrill, inspire, celebrate and fuel the future of the magic of jazz.
