The Reno Jazz Orchestra, with Sinatra-style guest vocalist Matt Mauser, will present its “Sinatra Sings, Basie Swings” concert during Mother’s Day weekend on May 10, 2025, at 4:00 pm at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Nightingale Concert Hall.
“Teaming up with the illustrious Reno Jazz Orchestra, with the timeless allure of Ol' Blue Eyes and the incomparable Sinatra sound, Matt Mauser is set to deliver a classic big band performance,” said Greg Johnson, Music Director. “The program includes full big-band arrangements of Come Fly With Me, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, New York/New York, That’s Life and My Way, plus, a vibrant medley of Jazz, Traditional, Pop, Swing, R&B, and even Bolero, promising the sensational sounds of Swing.”
Mauser is a songwriter, solo artist, pop/rock bandleader, and Sinatra-style crooner having spent over two decades onstage and in the writing room. He is the lead singer of The Matt Mauser Big Band in Orange County, California, and the popular, eclectic cover band Tijuana Dogs. Mauser has also appeared on America's Got Talent and performs regularly with 16-time GRAMMY award winner David Foster.
While he has a reputation for Sinatra-style phrasing, he's not imitating The Chairman of the Board in the big-band shows. Mauser is just using his big, flexible voice to delight audiences worldwide.
“We specifically selected May 10, 2025, for this production as it’s the day before Mother’s Day, said Johnson. “It’s a perfect gift or outing for those who have treasured memories of Sinatra and are avid big-band fans today.”
Tickets are $10 for students, and adult pre-reserved seats are priced at $30 - $50. They can be purchased through the non-profit organization’s website at RenoJazzOrchestra.org.
