Celebrate the holidays with Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (TOCCATA®) as they present Handel’s Messiah across the Reno–Tahoe region. This beloved Baroque masterpiece includes the iconic “Hallelujah” Chorus and uplifting music that captures the spirit of hope, grace, and renewal.
This series will be conducted by Dr. Mariusz Smolij, one of six candidates who are currently auditioning for TOCCATA’s permanent Artistic Director position. Maestro Smolij is a frequent recording artist for Naxos International, and has gained international critical acclaim including praise from The New York Times for “compelling performances.” Maestro Smolij has led over 130 orchestras in 28 countries on five continents, appearing in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls. Under his baton, this program will showcase the brilliance of the Tahoe Symphony’s orchestra and chorus alongside outstanding vocal soloists. Each performance offers an opportunity to pause amid the holiday season and experience the reflective power and beauty of this remarkable score and familiar holiday carols.
Performances take place December 13–21 in Reno, Carson Valley, Truckee, and surrounding communities, featuring TOCCATA’s acclaimed orchestra, chorus, and soloists. Join us for this cherished holiday tradition and share in the joy of the season.
