Get ready to step, sway, and spin to the infectious rhythm of Merengue at JB Duke Hotel, the AAA Four Diamond hotel located on Duke University's campus. This beginner-friendly class, led by Sadie Zimet of Ninth Street Dance from 6-7 p.m., will introduce participants to the high-energy, accessible dance style hailing from the Dominican Republic. Whether they are looking to try something new or refine their moves, this Merengue class offers a fun, welcoming atmosphere for dancers of all levels.
After the class, guests will stop by the JB Duke’s chic Lobby Lounge from 7-7:30 p.m. for an intimate Q&A session, where they’ll learn about the cultural context and history of Merengue. The hotel’s imaginative culinary team will also treat guests to a complimentary specialty cocktail sample, crafted to reflect the vibrant flavors and traditions of the time period.
