Raleigh’s Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration 2025
WE PLANT IT FORWARD HOSTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF RALEIGH THE ANNUAL EARTH DAY ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
RALEIGH, N.C. — We Plant It Forward will host in partnership with the City of Raleigh its annual Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration. The event will take place on April 25 at Dix Park, featuring family-friendly activities such as music, games, crafts, and food trucks.
"Arbor Day is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together while fostering a deeper appreciation for the environment," said Maggie Bailey, founder and executive director of We Plant it Forward. "It’s a day of learning and connection with hands-on activities to make a lasting impact.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from environmental educators and professionals on how to properly plant a tree during a ceremonial tree planting and take home free tree seedlings to plant in their own communities.
“We attended the event and took home several trees,” said Arbor Day 2024 festival attendee, Pedro Gelabert.
The event will also feature various demonstrations, including a rain barrel workshop led by Susan Jones from Lake Crabtree County Park, a tree care walk with ISA Certified Arborist from Leaf & Limb, and a Nature ID BioBlitz at Flowers Field with DragonFlyNature Programs. Participants can also learn about soil health and how to use the iNaturalist app to explore and share local wildlife.
"I enjoyed the people. I loved talking to the different vendors and learning about the work they are doing, said Arbor Day Festival Volunteer, Christina Moore. “The WPiF team was also great and very helpful."
Food trucks at this year’s festival will include Oak City Fish and Chips, MexiArepa, Sisters II Ice Cream, Copperheads Craft Burgers, and Season It Up Vegan. Entertainment will feature Poetry Fox, who creates on-the-spot poems, and the Bulltown Strutters, who will lead the parade to the ceremonial tree planting.
