THE SHOPS AT SKYVIEW INVITES THE COMMUNITY TO ‘SKYVIEW PARAMOUNT,’
To celebrate Lunar Year, The Shops at Skyview, a multi-level shopping destination in Flushing, Queens (https://www.theshopsatskyviewny.com), will transform part of its common area into a replica of the Paramount Theater for an "East meets West" atmosphere. The Paramount Theater in Old Shanghai (1930-40) represented a significant Western influence due to its Art Deco design, a style heavily associated with the West, and its function as a high-end ballroom and entertainment venue that mirrored the kind of Western nightlife culture that attracted wealthy patrons, all within the context of an Asian city like Shanghai. As The Shops at Skyview re-creates this environment, there will be a number of spectacular live music and dance performances reminiscent of those performed at The Paramount Theater in Old Shanghai. During the event, which takes place on Level 4 (next to Sephora), guests will enjoy decorating a New Year wishing tree, a red envelope raffle with coupons from participating retailers inside, a vintage-style photo booth, traditional snack tastings (while supplies last), and a “Dress to Impress” vintage qipao-style contest where guests are encouraged to wear their best vintage Lunar New Year attire. This event takes place immediately following the annual Flushing Lunar New Year Parade and the center encourages the community to consider its unique and fun-filled “Skyview Paramount” Lunar New Year event to be the perfect “after-parade” party.
