This premier event is born from a mission-driven partnership between New Greater Bethel Ministries and ARK (Acts of Random Kindness Community Development), two organizations united by a single, unwavering goal: to saturate our community with love, health, and high-quality resources at absolutely no cost to the residents. By blocking off the street and inviting the world to our doorstep at 215th and Jamaica Avenue, we transform a simple thoroughfare into a sanctuary of wellness and a playground of joy.
At the heart of this initiative is a commitment to health equity. We recognize that for many in our community, navigating the healthcare system can be daunting, expensive, or simply out of reach. That is why we have collaborated with world-class institutions—including NYC Health + Hospitals, Healthfirst, and Mount Sinai—to bring the clinic to the curb. We are offering comprehensive free health screenings to all attendees, providing a low-pressure environment to check vitals and consult with professionals. A critical highlight of our medical tent is the free prostate screenings available for all men, which require no insurance and no out-of-pocket payment. This specific outreach is designed to break down the barriers of fear and financial strain, ensuring that the men in our community have the preventative care they deserve to lead long, healthy lives.
However, we know that health is about more than just medicine; it is about the security of knowing your family is fed. To address the very real challenge of food insecurity, we are distributing free bags of groceries to our neighbors. These packages are available while supplies last and serve as a tangible "Act of Random Kindness" to help ease the weekly grocery budget for families. This spirit of giving is woven into every hour of the fair. To keep the energy high and the smiles wide, we host giveaways every single hour, leading up to our most anticipated moment: the drawing for two large-screen TVs. These prizes aren't just about the gadgets; they are about the excitement and the "win" that every community member deserves to experience.
While the adults engage with health professionals and resource tables, the Kidz Zone serves as the heartbeat of the fair’s energy. We believe that a community day should be a core memory for our youth, which is why we’ve spared no effort in providing top-tier entertainment. From the sky-high bounces in our massive inflatable houses to the high-tech, immersive experience of our professional Gaming Truck, the children of our neighborhood are given a safe space to simply be kids. This festive, outdoor street fair atmosphere ensures that while parents are getting the help they need, their children are surrounded by laughter, play, and a sense of belonging.
