ACOS 35th Anniversary & Mardi Gras Gala
AIDS Care Ocean State (ACOS) is celebrating 35 years of service and prevention in Rhode Island! In honor of this occasion, we are hosting a 35th Anniversary & Mardi Gras Gala on Friday, March 7th at the historic Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston. The 35th Anniversary celebration will commemorate ACOS service, dedication, and achievements, in addition to, recognizing the people who have lent to the success of the organization throughout its years.
The event is open to the public and will include live entertainment, music, magic, comedy, dancing, traditional Mardi Gras dinner and a awards ceremony. During the awards presentation of the Gala we will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to founder of ACOS, Paul Fitzgerald, Community Service Award to the Providence Gay Flag Football League (PVDGFFL), and the Philanthropist of the Year Award to Chuck Hollis.
The evening will feature DJ & Lights from Sound Stream Entertainment, dancing and entertainment from TEN31 Productions that will mesmerize guests through the festively decorated ballroom, live music from the RI Gay Men's Chorus, tableside performances by Magician Drew Michaels and some surprises. The always funny, and winner of 2024 "Best Local Stand-Up Comic," Doreen Collins is your Emcee for the evening and the historic building will be transformed into a typical Bourbon Street scene with the sites, smells and sounds of New Orleans. Guests who do not come in costume, can stop by the Mardi Gras costume shop and get “dolled” up with masks and beads to finish their festive attire. What better way to celebrate and support the community than with a Mardi Gras Gala masquerade!
Doors open at 7pm with our festive cocktail hour and dinner will begin at 8pm. ACOS invites you to join in the excitement of Mardi Gras by purchasing tickets or becoming a sponsor. The limited discounted ticket prices are, Table of 10 tickets for $1,100, a bundle of tickets of two (2) for $225 or an individual ticket for $120. For the past 35 years, ACOS has provided case management, housing resources, mental health services, HIV prevention education, harm reduction, outreach and advocacy for those at risk of and/or effected by HIV/AIDS in the state.
