Two Lights for Liberty Sip & Celebration


Friday, April 18th, 2025 Colony House | Washington Square, Newport Tickets start at $125 per person 6pm to 8pm Sip and celebrate to kickoff America250 Two Lights for Liberty to celebrate America’s upcoming 250th anniversary will be held on Friday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will kick off two years’ worth of engaging and educational programming and events to commemorate the birth of our nation and the City of Newport’s outsized role in America’s pursuit of independence. Enjoy specialty craft cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres in the beautiful Colony House (1739), which is one of the oldest still standing state houses in America. The historic space will be illuminated in honor of the ride of Paul Revere as part of a national initiative called Two Lights for Tomorrow. Tickets start at $125 per person and include food and beverages throughout the evening. Advance ticket purchases are recommended, as space is limited, and proceeds will help to support the Newport Historical Society’s ongoing semi-quincentennial programming. Also as part of the nationwide effort, the Newport Historical Society will host a Touch-a-Truck Food Drive event the following day, April 19, to benefit the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and personal care products to the Richard I. Burnham Resource Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and donors will be entered in a raffle.
