Lecture: Traditional Irish Music & Irish-American Identity at the Dawn of the Recording Age


Please join members and friends of the Museum of Newport Irish History for the 4th presentation of our 23rd Annual Lecture Series with Dr. Scott B. Spencer of the Thornton School of Music at the U. of Southern California, whose talk is titled: "Traditional Irish Music and Irish-American Identity at the Dawn of the Recording Age." The lecture is made possible by a generous gift from Margaret Armstrong Murray, given in memory of her husband, Vincent J. Murray. The illustrated lecture will be presented at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom live streaming. There is no fee, but reservations are required to receive the Zoom login information. This presentation, which includes historic musical recordings, will discuss the past century of traditional Irish music and its impact on Irish and Irish-American identity and community.
