Join the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble for Made in America, a free concert celebrating the richness, diversity, and enduring power of American music. This performance launches the nation’s 250th anniversary year with a program that highlights American musical voices across styles, eras, and traditions.
Held in the stunning atrium of the Newport Marriott, the concert features music ranging from patriotic tributes and symphonic works to blues, ragtime, and iconic film scores. The program includes John Philip Sousa’s George Washington Bicentennial, Morton Gould’s American Salute, Richard Rodgers’ Victory at Sea, Scott Joplin’s Solace, and W.C. Handy’s St. Louis Blues, alongside deeply moving works reflecting America’s social conscience, including Frank Ticheli’s American Elegy and Mark Camphouse’s A Movement for Rosa.
A special highlight of the evening will be Ricardo Mollá’s FinisterrIA, featuring guest soloists Dan Healy, trumpet, and Collin Tyrrell, trombone.
Admission is free. Donations will benefit Historic Music of Newport, supporting the preservation and sharing of Newport’s rich musical heritage through performance, education, and research.
