Spring Concert: My Favorite Things
On Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Newport Classical Recital Hall (42 Dearborn
Street, Newport) , the Choir School of Newport County presents its tenth annual
SPRING CONCERT: MY FAVORITE THINGS. Included are classical and secular works
around the theme, with an emphasis on travel, a merry movie medley inspired by Julie
Andrews (with bits from both The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins), Somewhere over
the Rainbow, and the Joni Mitchell classic Both Sides Now, culminating in Paul Halley's
fascinatingly optimistic Untraveled Worlds. We will see a video montage of our 2024
educational tour to Argentina, and hear from our recently restarted Angel Choir
training division. With guest instrumentalists and the outstanding acoustics and
production values of the Recital Hall, we anticipate a memorable and uplifting
afternoon, with a reception to follow. Admission is $25 at the door / children 12 and
under are free.

The Choir School was founded in 2014 to form lives of character and service through
the joy and discipline of intergenerational choral music. Choristers are paid for their
work, and have the opportunity to sing in the community, attend a summer camp, and
travel (England in 2018, Argentina in summer 2024). Recent performance highlights are
Messiah at the Mansion (at Rosecliff, 2021, 2022, and 2023), Newport Folk Festival
2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, Earth Day concerts, and annual Concerts of Remembrance
that raise money for humanitarian aid in the US and abroad.
