Gifted young organist and composer Peter Michael Fiore will play a short recital on the 49-Rank three manual Foley-Baker Pipe Organ in the historic Meetinghouse of The First Baptist Church in America. The program will feature music of Bach, Mendelssohn, Vierne, Florence Price, and one of Mr. Fiore's own compositions. The organ of The First Baptist Church in America has a long history, and some of its original pipes from the 1833 Hook opus 11 still play inside the historic casework of Hilborne-Roosevelt's 1884 renovation. The instrument underwent further improvements by Ernest Skinner in the late teens and early 1920's, and was modernized further by the Wicks Organ company c. 1958. The instrument was enlarged and enhanced to its current state in 2000 by the Foley-Baker Organ Company of Tolland, Connecticut. The event is free and open to the public. A reception follows downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.
