Faculty, guest artist and students will present original dance works at the Casino Theatre, each artist creating in the spirit of their unique "true north." Featured artists include Ana G. Delgado Cruz, whose work Dundun is a celebration of bodies sharing in space while keeping their individual stories to the beat of a common drum. Audiences will see and feel movement inspired by her native Puerto Rican culture and her BFA studies in contemporary dance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Salve Dance continues to build their relationship with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks in Calgary, Alberta. DJD Artistic Outreach Associate Joanne Baker restaged "Ellington Suite" from the 1986 production titled Rockin' in Rhythm, choreographed by DJD founder Vicki Adams Willis and set to music by jazz legend Duke Ellington. International choreographer and Salve faculty member Mekbul Jemal Tahir shares his Ethiopian roots through Acogny dance technique in Shout which plays with sound to create and connect. Salve faculty member and founder of A. Rich Dance, Ashley Omisore, will present a new work titled It's Time. The piece is inspired by the strength she's experienced in motherhood and celebrates women embracing their inner truth and greatness. Additional works and reflections on True North will be presented by Salve students, reflecting the values of Salve Dance - where artists dig deep to trust their authentic voice.
