Newport NewWorks Musical Theater Festival is back for our 2nd season and will feature Broadway-level talent in work-in-progress developmental presentations of:
• STUPID: A GENIUS NEW MUSICAL. Written by Drama Desk Award winner Benjamin Scheuer (“The Lion”) and humorist-songwriter Simon Scheuer, STUPID is a romantic comedy about Agnes and Ferdinand who are geniuses - but when they meet one another, things get stupid!
• A LIFE WORTH LIVING by Jeffery Chen. A story about high school senior Gavin Zhou who involuntarily lands himself in a residential treatment facility where, he must confront the grief, guilt, and broken relationships he’s been running from.

ABOUT NEWPORT NEWWORKS:
The Newport NewWorks Musical Theater Festival is dedicated to providing a nurturing and creative space for both emerging and established artists to develop and refine their work-in-progress musicals. Each summer, we bring together a diverse group of artists for a two-week residency focused on collaboration, innovation, and artistic growth in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island. The residency is focused on the development of specific new musicals selected through a rigorous application process. The festival culminates in public workshop performances of the works where audiences get a rare glimpse of the heart of the creative process.
