Salad Days: Art Exhibition in Haskell Garden's Greenhouses

Salad Days transforms the defunct greenhouses of legendary New Bedford horticulturist Allen Haskell—known as “a nurseryman with an artist’s eye”—into vessels for dreaming. From Scotland to California, 21 artists present works that bridge the functional and the fantastical, offering tender inventions, emotional relics, and hopeful fictions. Part celebration, part soft rebellion, the exhibition revels in ornament, myth-making, and the handmade—inviting visitors to wander the gardens, discover installations tucked into the glasshouses, and encounter art beyond the walls of a traditional gallery. ☆ The exhibition opens Friday, September 19, 5–8 PM with harp and vocals by Myles Goulart, CLOROPHILIA Equinox Performance & Elixir by Willa Van Nostrand, and interactive “Garden Frottage” drawing activations. Guests are encouraged to dress in their Salad Days best—think playful produce-inspired colors, vegetal hues, and ripe creativity. On view September 19–October 12 at Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens in New Bedford, MA. Easily accessible from Boston via the new South Coast Rail, Salad Days makes for a unique autumn art day trip. More info: sitespecifichappenings.com.
