Christmas at the Organ: James Walton in Concert
Portland native and concert organist James Walton presents a festive concert for the season on Trinity Cathedral’s landmark Rosales organ, one of the finest pipe organs in North America.
The program includes Claude D’Aquin’s brilliant "Noël variations," Herbert Howells’ rhapsodic "Psalm Prelude No. 1," and Advent & Christmas works by J.S. Bach – as well as the world premiere of Walton's composition "Intermezzo" and his 2024 "Chorale, Variations, & Fugue." These pieces are infused with Walton's French Romantic–inspired compositional voice, beautifully suited to the fiery French accent of the Rosales.
Following the concert, the audience is invited to Trinity Music's annual Wassail Party, a beloved holiday tradition with seasonal treats and a chance to greet the performer.
