Cay Is Okay Housekeeping Album Release at Mississippi Studios

Cay Is Okay's long awaited debut LP Housekeeping comes from years-long efforts across sociopolitical landscapes and personal growth milestones. Through rock with punk and pop elements, the album addresses the queer brown experience in a cishet white world through the lens for frontperson Cay Davis's birth chart. 'Housekeeping' references the astrological houses as well as individual participation in the perpetuation/breaking of oppressive systems. This album will be released through a pair of performances in recognition of our participation in the cycle of life and death. The Life Show at the Clinton Street Theater on 1/28 celebrates the album breathing life independent from the artist and falls on the artist's birthday. The Death Show on 2/2 at Mississippi Studios marks the project completion and allows for a new cycle to begin. This date also commemorates the 20th anniversary of the artist's dad's passing. Cay Is Okay will perform as a four-piece, accompanied by other PNW QTBIPOC-led projects. Kusikia will join for the Clinton show on 1/28, playing together for the first time in 13 years and as a three-piece. The Mississippi show on 2/2 will be joined by Portland's Shanea and Freddie Lee Toyoda of Seattle, WA. In an effort to be accessible and inclusive, the artists request you wear a high-quality KN95/N95 mask. ASL interpretation for Cay Is Okay's sets will be provided.
