Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's Back to the Movies Series Presents Blackmail (1929)
This 1929 thriller by Alfred Hitchcock follows the story of a young London woman who murders a man in an act of self-defense. In the days that follow, she is subjected to blackmail by a bystander of the event. Cited as the first British sound feature film, Blackmail became the first successful ‘talkie’ in Europe.
