Chamber Music Pittsburgh Presents Marc-André Hamelin
Equal parts intimate and virtuosic, Hamelin’s program ranges from Charles Ives’s monumental “Concord” sonata, with its portraits of great American Transcendentalists, to Robert Schumann’s contemplative Waldszenen (Forest Scenes) to Maurice Ravel’s thrilling “Gaspard de la Nuit,” performed by one of today’s leading pianists at the height of his powers. Hamelin regularly performs around the globe with leading orchestras and conductors, and gives recitals at major concert venues and festivals worldwide. He has earned dozens of accolades, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the German Record Critics’ Association along with 12 Grammy nominations.
