John Wayne's Final Ride: The Shootist at Western Spirit Museum
Join Western Spirit Museum for a special screening of The Shootist (1976). Widely regarded as John Wayne's farewell to the Western genre, the film stars Wayne as aging gunfighter J.B. Books, who learns he is dying and chooses to face his final days on his own terms. Co-starring Lauren Bacall, Ron Howard, and James Stewart. Following the screening, renowned film historian and two-time Emmy Award-winning makeup artist Michael F. Blake will lead a post-film discussion, sharing insights into the film's production, themes, and enduring significance as John Wayne's final performance. Rated PG, the film runs 1 hour and 40 minutes. Admission is free for museum members and included with museum admission. Program-only tickets are available for $10.
