Art Heals Arizona Welcomes Community at Open House

What: Join Art heals Arizona to celebrate its new name by transforming old Free Arts shirts into a new community quilt to embrace the spirit of change. Who: This free event is open to all members of the community who want to come show their support for the Art Heals Arizona mission. When: Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Where: 352 E. Camelback Rd., STE 100, Phoenix, AZ 85012 Why: This second annual spring open house provides members of the community with a unique opportunity to learn more about the services Art Heals Arizona provides, see the impact the organization has had on the community, and learn more about getting involved. This year, staff and volunteers are also welcoming members of the community to come celebrate the recent name change from Free Arts to Art Heals Arizona by creating a common thread among the community in the form of a large community quilt with the help of the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild. The quilt will be created with 4-inch by 4-inch blocks cut from old Free Arts shirts that visitors will be encouraged to decorate the blocks with shapes that define their previous experience with Free Arts or the future of Art Heals Arizona. Guests will also have the option to tour the facility with professional staff leading small group discussions about the work Art Heals Arizona does for children, teens and families impacted by the foster care system. Snacks and beverages will be provided. From 7:00 to 7:30 we will be offering space to remember and celebrate the life of Barry Halvorson; a friend of both the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild and Art Heals Arizona. Space will be given for anyone to share their memories and thoughts as we remember the profound impact he had on our community, including the creation of this event last year and bringing together these two unique organizations.
