Concert by Philadelphia Mandolin Ensemble
Philadelphia Mandolin & Guitar Ensemble is fifteen musicians, based in Havertown, PA, who play music for the joy of playing music to an audience.
The instruments are mandolin, mandola, guitar, mandicello, percussion, hammered dulcimer, accordion acoustic bass, & voice. The musical arrangements are similar to the arrangements of a violin string ensemble.
So far, the repertoire has been classical, folk, opera, Beatles, dance, movie themes, jazz, pop, dance, Latin, & Italian. The ensemble keeps trying & arranging music. Presently Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is being arranged, but is not ready. The group began playing twenty one years ago.
Each year, three concerts are put on in Havertown by the ensemble & at least three concerts are booked by other audiences in Pennsylvania & New Jersey.
