On Wednesday, April 2 at 5 to 7pm Eastern time Creative Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia’s official office of arts and culture, and Mid Atlantic Arts kick’s off Philly Jazz Month at City Hall. City Hall is located at 1400 John F Kennedy Boulevard and the celebration will be in Reception Room 202.

Kick off this year’s Philly Jazz Month in style at City Hall with a night of live music, delicious food, and wine. This unforgettable celebration will also feature remarks and a mayoral proclamation that will be presented by Val Gay, Chief Cultural Officer and Executive Director at Creative Philadelphia.
For the first time, Creative Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia’s official office of arts and culture, is partnering with Mid Atlantic Arts to present the inaugural Philly Jazz Month. During the month of April, jazz-inspired events and educational resources will be featured throughout Philadelphia. Philly Jazz Month 2025 is generously supported by PECO and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
Philly Jazz Month is a city-wide celebration of the past, present, and future of jazz. Throughout April, Philly Jazz Month will celebrate the work of exceptional artists and organizations in Philadelphia and accelerate collaborative efforts to bring local, national, and international awareness to the city’s vibrant jazz scene and African American Cultural heritage.
Philly Jazz Month will feature a dynamic month-long lineup of public art events and performances. Attendees can enjoy performances across various local venues and organizations, experience hands-on learning, and enrich their appreciation and knowledge of jazz. With eclectic performances, this citywide initiative unites communities, uplifts local artists, and keeps Philadelphia’s jazz heritage alive.
Val Gay, Chief Cultural Officer and Executive Director at Creative Philadelphia and Juan Souki, Executive Director at Mid Atlantic Arts; and other city officials will be available to media onsite to discuss the first year of the partnership between the two organizations with the goal to keep jazz alive in Philadelphia.
